China's southern island province of Hainan reported progressive economic growth in 2021, local government data shows.
The Fifth Session of the 7th Hainan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) opened in Haikou on Jan 20.
Jiangdong New Area is located on the east coast of Haikou, the capital of South China's Hainan province, and has a planned land area of 298 square kilometers.
Ushering in a positive start to 2022 for the Hainan Free Trade Port, 142 projects, involving a total investment of 37.3 billion yuan ($5.85 billion), started construction on Jan 6, including 10 in Jiangdong New Area.
Last year, Yangpu Port registered 30 international ships with a registered total tonnage increase from 670,000 in 2018 to 5.5 million this year.
On Jan 18, Hainan held a conference on the business environment and investment promotion in Haikou to promote free trade port business opportunities to entrepreneurs from home and abroad.
The island province of Hainan has actively optimized its port business environment in recent years.
