Hainan to host Sanyuesan Festival

South China's Hainan will organize a variety of activities for Sanyuesan Festival, a traditional event for the Li and Miao ethnicities that falls on the third day of the third month in the lunar Chinese calendar.

Themed around "Love and Gratitude," the festival has set up main venues in Changjiang Li autonomous county and at Shuiman town in Wuzhishan. It will last from April 1 to May 11.

In addition to offline activities, online events will be hosted to enable people to see the on-site events, sing and communicate with each other, as well as enjoy the competitions, shows and exhibitions online. 

An activity to worship Li ancestors, an opening ceremony and a variety show, a bonfire party, a tourism experience event, an economic and social development achievement exhibition, a Li Brocade and Miao Embroidery competition, as well as Li and Miao folk song performances will be among the highlights of the festival.

A number of folk custom activities full of ethnic customs and local characteristics will also be arranged in the sub-venues of Haikou, Sanya, Danzhou, Qionghai, Wanning, Dongfang, Tunchang, Ledong Li autonomous county, Lingshui Li autonomous county, Baoting Li and Miao autonomous county, Qiongzhong Li and Miao autonomous county, as well as Baisha Li autonomous county.
