Intl tropical produce fair opens in Haikou

The opening ceremony and promotional events for the 2020 China (Hainan) International Tropical Agricultural Products Winter Trade Fair were held in Haikou, during which 10 Hainan agricultural product geographical indications and 10 most favored green food in Hainan were released. 

The five-day fair is being held at the Hainan International Conventional and Exhibition Center in Haikou, running until Dec 22. With an exhibition area over 100,000 square meters and 10 exhibition zones, it is the largest one in its history. 

There are seven indoor exhibition zones, including the Belt and Road Exhibition Hall, the National Hall for Quality Agricultural Products, the Poverty Alleviation Exhibition Hall, the "Xiaokang" Life Hall, the Exhibition Hall for Hainan-Taiwan Trade, as well as three outdoor exhibition zones to display Hainan local food and agricultural products.

The trade fair has attracted over 100 companies from around 30 countries and regions, as well as about 2,000 domestic companies. With many industrial leaders like COFCO Group, China's largest foodstuff producer and grain trader by sales revenue, taking part, the event features a wide range of exhibits from agricultural products, red wine, and agricultural machines to cross-border e-commerce products.

A total of 53 new varieties of tropical fruits were already put on shelves at the No 1 Exhibition Hall on Dec 17. High-quality domestic agricultural products from across China, with distinctive local features, were also available at the trade fair.

According to organizers, all of the exhibition zones of the fair are open to the public if they brought their ID cards and health codes from Dec 19 to Dec 22.
