The 2020 Wenchang International Aviation & Aerospace Forum was held in Haikou, South China's Hainan province on Nov 24, highlighting the future development and collaborations in the aviation and aerospace industries.
Shen Xiaoming, governor of Hainan, and Wu Yanhua, deputy director of the China National Space Administration (CNSA), attended the forum and addressed the audience.
The Wenchang Space Launch Site is part of the new generation of space launch sites in China that undertake a series of major launch tasks, said Shen. While contributing to building strong aviation and aerospace industries, Hainan also has its own little dream of speeding up the construction of Wenchang International Aerospace City, the governor added.
"We will make full use of the advantages of the Hainan Free Trade Port policies and the Wenchang Space Launch Site to facilitate the clustering of related industries in Hainan, develop commercial aerospace services, build a forum to share space technology achievements, strengthen space technology innovations, build a space big data service base, as well as accelerate the deepening of the space cultural and tourism industry."
Shen added that he hoped that the forum could be a platform to pool ideas and achieve synergy to create a bright future for the aviation and aerospace industries in China.
The CNSA will encourage companies to launch more high-quality projects in Hainan, building a cluster of industries featuring R&D and manufacturing of high-end aerospace products, space big data, and space information applications, as well as creating an international exchange platform in Wenchang, Wu noted.
Guided by the CNSA and organized by the Hainan Provincial Government, the forum consisted of activities like the main forum, the remote sensing application sub-forum, an annual meeting of the Commercial Aerospace Industry Alliance, and an international aerospace education forum.
