A 66.2-kilometer rural road running across Jiyang district, Tianya district, Yazhou district, and Yucai Ecological District and linking many beautiful tourism attractions in Sanya will be completed this month.
It will be the longest rural tourism road in Hainan province and the first of its kind in the city, injecting strong vitality into Sanya's rural revitalization and all-for-one tourism efforts.
With construction starting in 2017, the project includes new road building and several road widening sections. At present, five of the total six sections have been completed, while the last section is already in its final construction stage and is expected to be finished by the end of November.
"The road is great, and the transportation of fruit and vegetables will be safer and more convenient," said a Sanya resident surnamed Lin, who lives in Yazhou district.
Lin said that the previous road was in poor condition and would become slippery whenever it rained, making it difficult for vehicles and villagers to travel.
The new highway will facilitate the entry of agricultural vehicles into deeper mountain areas and accelerate the transportation of agricultural products for sale, he added.
According to local officials, the road will also make many lesser-known scenic spots in Sanya that were previously difficult to visit, such as Liuluo Canyon, more accessible to tourists.
