Hainan industrial park included on China's digital service export bases list

A list of the first batch of digital service export bases in China was recently released, with 12 industrial parks selected including Hainan Resort Software Community.

The special list was co-released by the Ministry of Commerce, the Cyberspace Administration of China, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The establishment of the list is expected to promote service outsourcing, as well as help domestic industries climb to the mid-to-high end of the value chain.

The selected parks have received the joint recommendation of the provincial commerce, cyberspace administration, as well as industry and information departments. They have also passed expert panel reviews and comprehensive review by relevant departments. The 12 digital services bases have good export foundations, strong competitiveness, and great global influence.

Hainan Resort Software Community has housed more than 5,000 companies, including tech giants Tencent, Baidu, and Huawei. In recent years, the park's businesses have been dominated by the new generation of information technology, especially blockchain technology. It focuses on the development of digital health, digital finance, and other business formats, seeking to nurture and develop a digital industry worth over 100 billion yuan ($14.12 billion).

In the future, the Ministry of Commerce will work with the Cyberspace Administration of China and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to formulate implementation plans for the construction of these bases, roll out specific support policies, accelerate the digital transformation of service exports, foster new enterprises in digital service exports, as well as promote digital service industry openness to outside of China.
