Many places in Hainan, such as Haikou, Sanya, and Danzhou, have recently made efforts to promote project construction.

The construction of the Hainan Center project in Haikou is currently in full swing. With a total investment of 10 billion yuan ($1.5 billion), it will become the tallest building in Hainan after its completion. It will focus on attracting Fortune 500 enterprises, export-oriented enterprises, and financial institutions to settle in it.

The Haikou Xinhai ro-ro passenger terminal project is also taking shape. After its completion, it will realize "zero transfer" services to tourists across the strait.

The Sanya International Yacht Center project has completed the construction of its facade, while interior and exterior decoration, as well as mechanical and electrical installation work are currently ongoing. Upon completion, the project will help Sanya become a world-class yacht tourism consumption center.

In Danzhou, the construction site of the expansion project of Hainan Yangpu Regional International Container Hub Port, which just started at the beginning of this year, is busy. As an important project serving the construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, it is expected to add 5.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of container handling capacity after it begins operation.

On Feb 6, the commencement ceremony for the first batch of centralized construction projects of the Hainan Free Trade Port in 2023 was held in Haikou Jiangdong New Area. There are 167 projects under centralized construction in this round, with a total investment of 59.7 billion yuan ($8.8 billion), of which 18 billion yuan will be completed in 2023.

This year marks a crucial year for the island-wide independent customs operation of Hainan Free Trade Port. The province will promote investment in its four leading industries, namely culture and tourism, modern services, high-tech, as well as tropical characteristic and efficient agriculture. It will also further develop public services for local residents.
