Hainan tourism surges for Spring Festival

Hainan's tourism market registered a robust increase during the Spring Festival holiday thanks to optimized COVID-19 response policies.

Figures from the Hainan Provincial Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports showed the province recorded 6.4 million visits, up 18.2 percent year-on-year. Its total tourism revenue reached 9.3 billion yuan ($1.4 billion), up 23.5 percent year on year.

From Jan 21 to 25, local tourist attractions that are provincial 4A-level and above received 1.88 million visitors, up 58.7 percent year on year.

The province launched tourism products and activities with strong local and festive elements. At the same time, tourists welcomed new forms of tourism activities such as surfing, sailing, yachting and diving.

People living in Hainan also enjoyed their Spring Festival holiday, as according to Ctrip data, the number of outbound travel orders in the province increased by 1,017 percent year on year. The entry-exit business of cities and counties in the province also reached a peak during this time.
