The launching ceremony of Hainan Island Ring Road Roaming Season, sponsored by the Hainan Provincial Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports, will be held in Wenchang Gaolong Bay from Nov 16 to 17.

Hainan Island Ring Road is a scenic tourism channel that reflects the geographical landscape and cultural characteristics of Hainan. The total mileage of the main route is about 1,000 kilometers, running through 12 cities and counties, including Haikou, Wenchang, Qionghai, Wanning, Lingshui, Sanya, and the Yangpu Economic Development Zone. It connects 84 scenic areas, 22 headlands, 25 lighthouses, 68 bays, 26 coastal lagoons, 16 mangrove areas, 40 post stations, 31 scenic spots above Class-A level, 21 tourist resorts, and 261 coastal scenic spots. After completion, it will serve as a landmark project of the Hainan International Tourism Consumption Center.

Adhering to the concept of slow travel, motorists must stay within a speed limit of 40 km per hour. In order to promote the cultural resources of Hainan Island Ring Road, thousands of photographs, paintings, poems and short videos have already been collected online, while an offline art exhibition will be held from Nov 19 to 20.

To encourage more tourists to enjoy a journey around Hainan Island Ring Road, the province issued tourist coupons worth 53 million yuan ($7.5 million) in late October across the nation. These cover hotels and A-level scenic spots in Hainan, and can be redeemed until Dec 31.
