As of Aug 16, a total of 195 people from the supporting teams with the State Council's joint prevention and control mechanism have come to Hainan to carry out guidance work, while 20,078 medical staff members from 20 provinces across the country have carried out various anti-pandemic tasks.

After the recent outbreak of COVID-19 in Hainan, the Ninth People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine quickly dispatched 120 medical staff members to support Danzhou's fight against the pandemic.

Jiangsu province has sent nearly 1,800 medical staff members to aid Hainan, with staff involved in all aspects of Hainan's pandemic prevention and control work.

Wang Chenxu, a member of the nucleic acid testing team from the Jiangsu medical team, had previously assisted Shanghai and other places in their COVID-19 fight. This is his first time in Hainan. Although their place of work and accommodation is right next to the beach, the medical workers have not had much chance to enjoy the sea breeze along the seaside due to the high pressure and discipline required for their work. "I hope the pandemic will end soon, so we can really go and see the beach before leaving Hainan," said Wang.

Guangdong province sent 506 medical staff members to Sanya to offer support. The province also called up a fleet of 200 buses and 252 drivers to join the emergency transfer work in Hainan.

A total of 504 medical staff from Ningxia arrived in Sanya on Aug 16. They are mainly responsible for conducting epidemiological survey, pandemic prevention and control, medical treatment, as well as nucleic acid testing work.
