The first Hainan International Offshore Duty Free Shopping Festival will kick off in Sanya on June 28, organizers announced at a press conference on June 25. The event will run until the end of the year and feature over 50 promotions across the province.
The festival's launch ceremony will be held in Sanya International Duty Free City on June 28, which will be launched simultaneously with the 4th China Duty Free Group (CDFG) Hainan Offshore Duty Free Shopping Festival. In addition, various tourism and cultural departments, cities and counties, as well as duty-free business retailers will launch marketing efforts around key shopping periods, including the summer holidays and the National Day holidays. These activities will cover a wide variety of distinctive themes, including the Makeup Festival and the Handbag Festival.
In addition to the issuance of 20 million yuan ($3 million) in duty free shopping coupons from June 25, the provincial government pledged to inject further funds in the future. City and county governments will also issue consumption coupons, while duty free retailers will continue to issue shopping coupons that can be used together with government consumption coupons.
The shopping festival will focus more on international market. In addition to exciting and affordable activities held by government departments and duty free retailers, it will also leverage the effect of the second China International Consumer Products Expo to promote the launch of high-end international brands in Hainan, as well as help establish the island as a leading destination for new fashion consumption.
