Haikou Jiangdong New Area is one of the key parks of the Hainan Free Trade Port. It achieved 227.2 billion yuan ($33.8 million) in revenue in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 105 percent.
Since its establishment on June 3, 2020, Jiangdong New Area has been committed to building an innovation area for comprehensively deepening the reform and opening-up pilot zone, an exhibition area for the national ecological civilization pilot zone, as well as an experience area for the international tourism consumption center.
The area focuses on the headquarters economy and airport economy. To date, 183 key enterprises have been introduced through investment promotion, including 35 of the world's top 500 companies, said Sun Ye, an official of the Haikou Jiangdong New Area Administration.
There are 14 headquarters projects under construction in the area. The Haikou Financial Center project will be put into use at the end of June. It will introduce an innovative financial service platform, as well as a one-stop government service center to promote the transformation and upgrading of the financial innovation industry in Jiangdong New Area.

Jiangdong New Area has started construction on 33 ecological and environmental protection projects, of which 16 projects have been completed, including the ecological restoration of Maiya River, as well as the ecological restoration and resource protection of Hainan Dongzhaigang National Nature Reserve.
Hainan Dongzhaigang National Nature Reserve has 36 species of mangrove plants, accounting for 97 percent of the country's total. It is the largest mangrove nature reserve in China, with the most tree species, the best stand quality, and the richest biodiversity.
