According to the press conference of the Hainan Provincial COVID-19 Epidemic Prevention and Control Work Headquarters held on April 4, Hainan plans to set up three makeshift hospitals.

National policies on COVID-19 prevention and control require each province to prepare two to three makeshift hospitals, as well as to take precautionary measures in advance to ensure that they can be put into use within two days if needed.

Among the three makeshift hospitals in Hainan, the Haikou makeshift hospital is located in the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center. To date, the floor covering has been basically completed, while the toilets and shower rooms in Hall 7 have been installed with steel frame structures. In addition, all 2,000 beds have been put in place.

The Haikou makeshift hospital is planned to be hosted by the team of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University. At present, the first batch of personnel, including police, security, and cleaning, have been trained. In addition, the information system has completed the construction of the base station. The integrated sewage equipment and air supply system will also be put into place and be put into use in a short time according to national requirements.

In addition, the Sanya and Danzhou makeshift hospitals have completed site selection, design, and medical management team organization. They have formulated materials, drug lists, and work plans. They will also start construction as soon as possible.
