Hainan adds 2 COVID-19 cases on March 31

Hainan reported two new COVID-19 cases and two asymptomatic infections on March 31, according to the Hainan Provincial Health Commission. 

Confirmed case No 197: Flew from Shanghai to Haikou on March 28 with a negative nucleic acid test result at the airport, and stayed at the Boao Dongyu Island Hotel. The person was confirmed as a COVID-19 case on March 28 and has been transferred to a designated hospital for treatment.

Confirmed case No 198: Flew from Shanghai to Haikou on March 29 with a negative nucleic acid test result at the airport, and stayed in Mengyang village, Longjiang town, Qionghai. The person was confirmed as a COVID-19 case on March 28 and has been transferred to a designated hospital for treatment.

Asymptomatic infection No 52: Flew from Shanghai to Sanya on March 26 with a negative nucleic acid test result at the airport, and stayed at Jinmao Seaview Garden in Dadonghai, Jiyang district. The person was confirmed as a COVID-19 case on March 31 and has been transferred to a designated hospital for medical observation.

Asymptomatic infection No 53: Flew from Shanghai to Sanya on March 27 with a negative nucleic acid test result at the airport, and stayed at Jinmao Seaview Garden, Dadonghai, Jiyang district. The person was confirmed as a COVID-19 case on March 31 and was transferred to a designated hospital for medical observation.

To strengthen COVID-19 prevention and control, the Hainan provincial authorities have designated closed and controlled areas in Haikou, Sanya, and Qionghai. Kindergartens, primary, and middle schools in the three cities should be closed from April 1 to 2. Sanya also required the city's indoor business venues to be closed for three days from 23:00 pm (11:00 pm) on March 31 to 8:00 am on April 4.
