On March 30, China's first smart deep-sea oil and gas storage center, which was invested in and built by China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), was put into operation at China National PetroChina Hainan Wharf.

It marks the completion of the infrastructure construction of China's deep-sea oil and gas resources exploration and development supply chain support system.

"The large-scale three-dimensional smart storage center covers an area of nearly 7,000 square meters, with the largest scale in the industry, and the technological advancement has also reached a leading level in the industry," said Zhao Feng, general manager of the Procurement and Sharing Center of the CNOOC Hainan branch.

The storage capacity of the smart storage center is 1.9 times more than that before its renovation. In addition, the scale of management personnel has been reduced compared with the traditional warehousing model, while the comprehensive cost of warehousing and logistics will drop by more than 3 million yuan ($472,500).

The construction of a smart deep-sea oil and gas security storage center can provide a full range of material storage and distribution support for offshore oil and gas exploration and development. It is of great significance to enhance the comprehensive strength of ensuring national energy security and supporting the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
