Hainan's foreign trade value reaches $4.4b in Jan-Feb

From January to February, Hainan's foreign trade value reached 28.01 billion yuan ($4.4 billion), an increase of 72.4 percent over the same period last year, with its growth rate being 59.1 percentage points faster than the national average, ranking second in the country, according to Haikou customs.

Among them, its exports were valued at 7.07 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 83.6 percent, while its imports were valued at 20.94 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 68.9 percent.

The foreign trade value in cities and counties across Hainan province has generally achieved positive growth. Among them, the imports and exports of Danzhou were valued at 12.55 billion yuan, an increase of 129.2 percent, ranking first among cities and counties in the province.

Driven by the official implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) in January, trade between Hainan and RCEP member countries has grown significantly. From January to February, Hainan's imports and exports to RCEP member countries amounted to 8.93 billion yuan, an increase of 61.3 percent.

In the first two months of this year, the total foreign trade value of private enterprises and State-owned enterprises accounted for 78.6 percent of the province's total, while foreign-invested enterprises imported and exported 5.99 billion yuan in the same period, an increase of 67.1 percent and accounting for 21.4 percent of the province's total.
