According to the Hainan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Hainan will build an advantageous and characteristic Wenchang chicken industrial cluster over the next three years. Wenchang will become a production and supply base of Wenchang chicken, while Wenchang, Haikou, and Qionghai will be built as dominant production areas.
The Wenchang chicken industry is a famous brand of Hainan's high-efficiency agriculture industry with tropical characteristics. In 2021, the province sold 110 million Wenchang chickens to 30 provinces across the country, with an output value of 12 billion yuan ($1.9 billion).

In recent years, Wenchang has introduced the intelligent breeding method, which has greatly improved the efficiency of breeding enterprises.
Workers only need to put a fixed amount of feed and open the mobile app to operate the rest of the process. The feed will be stirred evenly through a machine and be automatically put in the feeding pipeline. A worker can manage 30,000 chickens by using the intelligent breeding method, 10 times more efficient than the traditional breeding method, said Lin Peng, chairman of the Hainan Chuanwei Wenchang Chicken Industry Park.
Meanwhile, the temperature and humidity in the chicken coop can be set through the app, ensuring that the quality of breeders grown and the bred are more stable, Lin said.

Lin added that the company aims to build a Wenchang chicken feed factory and a standardized breeding industry park, as well as carry out wholesale and retail business through 300 terminal stores They aim to form a complete "breeding-intensive processing-terminal sales" industrial chain, enticing more villages and farmers to participate in the industrial development and boost rural revitalization efforts.
