2022 CICPE imported exhibits eligible for duty-free policies

ehainan.gov.cn | Updated: 2022-02-23

An announcement was issued on Feb 20 signifying that some imported exhibits at the 2022 China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) are eligible to enjoy duty-free policies.

According to the announcement, a limited amount of imported goods sold during the CICPE period will not be liable for import tariffs, import value-added tax, or sales tax.

The policy does not apply to items banned for import to China, endangered species and related products, tobacco, alcohol, as well as automobiles.

Companies selling duty-free products at the expo will be bound by the sales quotas laid out in the new duty-free policy. Relevant government departments will monitor sales, while taxes will be assessed according to China's tax law for products sold during the expo that exceed the duty-free quotas or for unsold goods that are not exported.

As in the first CICPE, the 2022 expo will implement the preferential tax policies for imported exhibits specified in the announcement, allowing some products to be sold duty-free. It applies to eight main types of exhibition products, including furniture, apparel and related items, leather goods, as well as fur and artificial fur.
