The fifth session of the 6th Hainan Provincial People's Congress held its closing meeting in Haikou, capital of South China's Hainan province, on Jan 24.
Shen Xiaoming, Party chief of Hainan and chairman of the Standing Committee of the 6th Hainan Provincial People's Congress, and Feng Fei, deputy secretary of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and governor of Hainan, as well as the deputies to the 13th National People's Congress in Hainan and other officials from provincial government departments attended the closing meeting.
The conference elected Li Jun, Liu Xingtai, Fu Caixiang, and Sun Dahai as vice-chairpersons of the Standing Committee of the 6th Hainan Provincial People's Congress, and Chen Guomeng as director of the Hainan Provincial Supervisory Commission. Subsequently, Wang Keqiang, Zhang Jun, Zhang Zhenhua, Zhong Yechang, and Chong Runzhi were elected as members of the Standing Committee of the 6th Hainan Provincial People's Congress.
Resolutions on the government work report, the 2022 national economic and social development plan, the implementation of the 2021 budget and resolution of the 2022 budget, the work report of the Standing Committee of the Hainan Provincial People's Congress, the work report of the Hainan High People's Court, and the work report of the Hainan Provincial People's Procuratorate were approved at the meeting.
Shen delivered a speech at the closing ceremony. He said that in the past year, the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port was vigorously carried out, and the growth rate of many major economic indicators was at the forefront of the country.
2022 is a crucial year for the implementation of the Hainan FTP policy and the preparation of customs closure operation. The Hainan Provincial People's Congress and its deputies must perform their duties and practice whole-process democracy under the high-level development background, according to Shen.
