The fifth session of the 7th Hainan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its closing meeting in Haikou, capital of South China's Hainan province, on Jan 23.
Xiao Yingzi was elected vice-chairman of the 7th Hainan Provincial Committee of the CPPCC.
In addition, Meng Li, Huo Juran, and Dai Zhen were elected members of the Standing Committee of the 7th Hainan Provincial Committee of the CPPCC.
A resolution on the annual session, a report on the examination of proposals, and a political resolution were approved at the closing meeting.
Mao Wanchun, chairman of the Hainan Provincial Committee of the CPPCC, hosted the session and delivered a closing speech.
In the speech, Mao congratulated organizers on the successful holding of the meeting, as well as put forward requirements for CPPCC organizations and members. He noted that they should insist on the direction of the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port with Chinese characteristics, as well as conduct in-depth research and discussions on key tasks, such as accelerating industrial upgrading, creating a first-class business environment, and promoting green and low-carbon development. He added that they should focus on issues, such as promoting the integrated development of Danzhou and Yangpu, as well as submit proposals at sessions of the CPPCC National Committee.
Shen Xiaoming, Party chief of Hainan, and Feng Fei, deputy secretary of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and governor of Hainan, as well as members of the national committee of the CPPCC in Hainan and officials from provincial government departments, attended the closing meeting.
