From January to November this year, Hainan province's total retail sales of consumer goods increased steadily, and the consumer market continued to recover, according to the Hainan Provincial Bureau of Statistics.
From January to November, the province's total retail sales of consumer goods was 226.74 billion yuan ($35.59 billion), a year-on-year increase of 28.7 percent.
The province's commodity retail sales grew steadily, and the catering market was generally stable. From January to November, its retail sales of goods was 20.82 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 26.7 percent, and its catering revenue was 25.92 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 46.6 percent.
Hainan's consumption of basic living items remained stable, and the consumption of upgraded items maintained rapid growth. During the January to November periods over the past two years, the retail sales of grains, oils and foods with units above designated size increased at an average of 2.9 percent, tobacco and alcohol increased at an average of 23.3 percent, clothing, footwear and hats increased at an average of 24.6 percent, and sports and entertainment saw an average increase of 1.8 percent.
The upgraded products in the duty-free market also maintained rapid growth. From January to November, the retail sales of cosmetics above designated size had a year on year increase of 64.7 percent, gold, silver and jewelry increased by 56.2 percent year on year, and duty-free items such as watches and luggage increased by 60.6 percent year on year.
The physical store sales noted steady increases as well, and the accommodation industry continues to report growth in Hainan. From January to November, the retail sales of physical stores above designated size increased by 16.7 percent year on year, and the revenue of the accommodation industry above designated size increased by 34.1 percent year on year.
