On Nov 26, the Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City Administration, Hainan Tropical Ocean University (HTOU) and Yazhou Bay Innovation Research Institute signed a tripartite cooperation agreement to establish the HNOU Yazhou Bay Innovation Research Institute.
According to the agreement, the institute will focus on aquatic products, seed breeding, tropical marine ecological environment, carbon sinks, as well as deep-sea materials and equipment. It aims to nurture innovation teams and build a first-class scientific research and innovation platform, strengthening the integration of industry, academia and research. A thousand-ton scientific research vessel for teaching and training is planned to be built by the end of 2022 or mid-2023.
The institute will bring talent together to meet the needs of Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City in terms of the agriculture and seed industry, and serve the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port, according to an official of HTOU.
