The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs released the results of China's beautiful leisure villages of 2021. Four villages in Hainan province were among the 254 villages listed.
The four villages include Yandong village in Yanfeng town, Meilan district, Haikou, Mocun village in Boao town, Qionghai, Dui'e village in Yacha town, Baisha Li autonomous county, and Dayan village in Wangxia town, Changjiang Li autonomous county.
The beautiful leisure villages selected this year feature four major characteristics. That is, they have taken full advantage of their resources, have diverse business models, have seen remarkable results in the development of agriculture, and are home to their own functional supporting facilities.
More than 60 percent of the villages focus on specialty homestays and local cuisine, and more than 40 percent have developed agricultural tourism and healthcare tourism. Some of the villages have carried out a series of activities such as family research travel, red tourism, ethnic customs, popular science education and outreach training.
In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has also announced that 532 villages that have been included in the monitoring list of China's beautiful leisure villages from 2010 to 2017. Among them, 10 are in Hainan, including Haikou's Fuchang village and Sanya's Zhongliao village.
