Haikou, Hainan province made the list of China's top 100 foreign trade cities in 2020, according to the China Customs magazine, which is sponsored by the General Administration of Customs.
Haikou was also listed as the top 30 of the national foreign trade development competitiveness list and the foreign trade potential competitiveness list.
The index system of China's urban foreign trade competitiveness is composed of five evaluation systems including urban foreign trade level competitiveness, structural competitiveness, benefit competitiveness, development competitiveness and potential competitiveness.
Since the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP), Hainan's foreign trade growth has been significantly higher than the national level. According to Haikou Customs, the total import and export value of Hainan's goods trade in the first three quarters was 101.35 billion yuan ($15.88 billion), exceeding the total value of last year. The foreign trade value of the Haikou Comprehensive Bonded Zone was 19.68 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 66.9 percent.
