The second phase of the Global Duty-Free (GDF) Plaza project will open in late August, a representative from Hainan Development Holdings announced on Aug 15.

The second phase of the GDF Plaza project will provide visitors with more than 200 world-renowned brands spanning product categories such as perfume and cosmetics, digital products, watches, pearls and jewels, and sunglasses in an area that covers over 30,000 square meters of space.

Global travel retailer Dufry teamed up with its partner Hainan Development Holdings to open its first duty-free complex GDF Plaza in Hainan in January this year.

Offering more and more world-renowned brands, GDF Plaza has become one of the main driving forces to boost the growth in Hainan's offshore duty-free market. The plaza strives to offer visitors a wide selection of products at the same prices as the international duty-free market.

The third phase of the GDF Plaza is currently being planned. It focuses on bringing in top luxury brands that are not yet available in Hainan.
