In the first half of 2021, the quality and efficiency of Sanya's economic development has steadily improved. The growth rate of major economic indicators surpassed the average level in Hainan province. In particular, the growth rate of consumption, imports and exports ranked first in the province, and the GDP growth rate ranked second in the province.
In the first half of the year, the city's GDP growth rate reached 20.3 percent, 2.8 percentage points higher than the provincial level. The fixed-asset investment increased by 33.8 percent. The total retail sales of consumer goods increased by 106.5 percent, and the city's import and export volume of goods increased by 125.8 percent.
Sanya's industrial structure has continued to be optimized, and the added value of the service industry is 2.7 percentage points higher than the same period last year. The investment structure has been improved, and the city's non-real estate investment rate is 3.4 percentage points higher than real estate investment. The consumption structure also continued to improve, with 13 of the 21 categories of commodities growing at a rate of more than 30 percent year on year.
Sanya's duty-free market has been expanded and upgraded in the first half of the year, and the retail sales of the four main offshore duty-free business entities totaled 19.79 billion yuan ($3.06 billion), an increase of 2.3 times year on year, accounting for over 70 percent of the province's duty-free retail sales. In the first half of the year, the per capita daily consumption of domestic tourists in Sanya increased to 3,346 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 36.1 percent.
The per capita disposable income of urban permanent
residents increased by 10.2 percent, and the per capita disposable income of
rural residents increased by 14.1 percent. Price levels have remained stable,
and the consumer price index dropped by 0.2 percent year on year. Employment has
also seen improvements, with the city's new urban employment reaching 34,300 in
the first half of this year, a year-on-year increase of 125 percent.
