Thirty individuals and seven team representatives from Hainan have been honored as model poverty fighters during a grand gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Feb 25, which was held to mark the nation's poverty alleviation accomplishments.
A total of 30 individuals and 23 teams from Hainan were recognized as models for their tremendous contributions to Hainan's poverty alleviation work.
Since the start of the poverty alleviation battle, government departments at all levels, Party members, cadres and people from all walks of life in Hainan province have been dedicated to reducing poverty, helping 649,700 people, 600 poverty-stricken villages and five underdeveloped counties in Hainan to shake off poverty.
