The Republic of Belarus in Eastern Europe on Dec 24 inaugurated a cultural and information liaison office in Hainan Free Trade Port, at the Windows to Global Trade business complex in Haikou – the port city in China's southernmost province – to promote communications and cooperation with Hainan.
The Window to Global Trade business complex, which was opened in June last year, aims to attract investors to build a free trade port in Hainan and create an international platform for cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises.
Popov Andrei Alexandrovich, consul-general of Belarus in South China's Guangzhou city and Zhao Jun, general manager of the Windows to Global Trade, attended the event and unveiled the foundation plate for the office.
Accompanied by Zhao and other business representatives, Alexandrovich toured Windows to Global Trade and learned about the building's advantages, support facilities, preferential policies and its one-stop business services platform.
Early on Dec 21, Hainan signed an agreement with Grodno Oblast in Belarus to establish a sister region relationship, as well as to enhance exchanges and cooperation. The two parties are expected to expand their links in terms of commerce and trade, science and technology as well as culture.
The envoy remarked that the visit was very interesting and he was impressed by the one-stop service provided by the Windows to Global Trade to enterprises – hoping that in future more Belarusian companies and products could be displayed at the complex.
Zhao said Hainan offers a good climate and policy environment and he urged Belarusian companies to invest in the province and share new development opportunities brought by the Hainan FTP.
Local officials said the Windows to Global Trade facility has been committed to creating a platform for international SMEs to settle there, find cooperation opportunities, get one-stop business services, obtain cutting-edge information and expand international markets.
Currently 381 companies have settled in the complex, including 78 international businesses from over 30 countries including the South Korea, Singapore, Cambodia and Japan.
