Greenland Holdings builds global innovation city in Haikou

A global innovation city developed in Haikou's Jiangdong New District has opened to investors, according to sources with Greenland Holdings Group's Hainan subsidiary.

Located in a new 298-square-kilometer benchmark area to promote construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP), the innovation city will be home to a modern business cluster for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from Haikou, the capital city of Hainan province.

The innovation city, which is adjacent to Haikou Meilan International Airport, will also host an industrial park for SMEs coming from both sides of the Taiwan Straits.

A cross-border commodity exhibition center will be opened to boost cross-border trade, which is growing rapidly due to promotion policies granted by the master plan for the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port that covers the entirety of Hainan Island, which spans about 34,000 square kilometers, about 32 times the size of Hong Kong.

Hainan plans to promote free trade logistics, cross-border e-commerce, aircraft maintenance, aviation headquarters, aviation finance, exhibition trade, market trading, and emerging consumption in the parts of Jiangdong New District that are close to Haikou Meilan International Airport.
