The Foreign Affairs Office of Hainan Province and the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Guangzhou held a conference on Oct 29 in Haikou, seeking to enhance economic and trade cooperation between Hainan and the Netherlands.
The Sino (Hainan)-Dutch Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference saw the participation of 40 representatives from the Netherlands exploring business opportunities in the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP).
At the conference, officials from Hainan's foreign affairs office, talent bureau, and the Hainan International Economic Development Bureau gave an overview of Hainan FTP construction, talent strategy, investment promotion, as well as introduced the first China International Consumer Products Expo, which is scheduled to be hosted in Haikou in May next year.

This is the third time that the embassy and consulate of the Netherlands in China has visited Hainan since July this year, which shows that the Hainan FTP is very attractive, said Wang Sheng, head of the Foreign Affairs Office of Hainan Province.
Wang noted that the Netherlands is an important trading partner of China in the EU, and that there is still a lot of room for development in the field of trade and investment between Hainan and the Netherlands.
After the conference, the Dutch entrepreneurs carried out in-depth communications with Hainan government departments and enterprises in areas like airport construction, urban planning and architectural design, life sciences and health, as well as agriculture.
In addition, they also went on inspection tours of medical institutions and science and technology departments in Haikou, Qionghai, Sanya, as well as other places in the province to explore business opportunities.
