Yangpu Economic Development Zone in Hainan province signed a cooperation agreement with Shanghai Ship and Shipping Research Institute on Oct 23 to jointly promote smart shipping and smart port construction.
According to the agreement, the institute will focus on building a digital, smart, green, and innovative Yangpu, supporting it in smart shipping business, smart port construction, smart ship building, shipping logistics digitalization and environmental consulting, as well as pollution control. Moreover, the two will team up in setting up a national key lab work station on shipping technologies and safety in Yangpu.
In the future, the institute will make full use of its advantages in technology, talents, and capital to cooperate with Yangpu on the development of the port and shipping industry. The institute will also collaborate with Yangpu on further enhancing its industrial innovations, improving the construction of Yangpu Port and shipping infrastructure as well as helping it build a new international shipping hub for the new western land-sea corridor.
