The 2020 Hainan Rural Tourism Cultural Festival kicked off on June 19 in Qionghai, a city in Hainan province that boasts peaceful scenery that has been compared to a landscape pastoral painting.

Activities like promotional events, photo exhibitions, a specialties trade fair, and poverty alleviation forums were held at the festival to display Hainan's distinct appeal. The festival has become an iconic Hainan tourism festival, a key stage to showcase and boost Hainan's rural tourism, as well as an engine to advance Hainan's rural revitalization.

Recently, rural tourism in Hainan has been bursting with vitality, becoming an effective way for the province to push forward supply-side reform in agriculture, rural revitalization, and targeted poverty alleviation. In 2019, Hainan received about 108 million tourists through rural tourism, a year-on-year growth of 5.53 percent, generating 3.48 billion yuan ($495 million) in revenue, with a growth rate reaching 8.21 percent.

In the future, Hainan will promote the deep integration of the tourism, culture, sports, and agriculture industries through the platform of the Hainan Rural Tourism Cultural Festival to actively contribute to the province's poverty reduction, rural revitalization, and rural tourism development efforts.
