Hainan regular-speed trains offer paperless tickets

ehainan.gov.cn | Updated: 2020-06-22

Hainan started to implement and promote its e-ticket system for regular-speed train rides on June 20 in an effort to streamline its boarding procedures and improve its services.

Starting on June 20, the e-ticket system, which was previously limited to high-speed and intercity railways, were promoted on rail lines running at normal speed, with over 1,300 such stations involved in the new arrangement, according to the China State Railway Group.

Now, tickets at the railway stations of Haikou, Dongfang, Sanya, Xuwen, and Leizhou, which are under the jurisdiction of Haikou Train Depot, have become paperless.

The new system brings great convenience for passengers in terms of ticket purchasing channels, which include the internet, station windows, and ticket vending machines. It will also simplify checking procedures for boarding and exit of train stations with only person ID card needed, as well as offer easier refund ticket change services that can be done online.

The roundabout high-speed railway in the island province started to pilot its e-ticket system in November 2018.
