Hainan sets up liaison agencies in 16 countries

The Hainan International Business Council will establish 16 contact points with Chinese overseas chambers of commerce in countries in Asia, Europe, and America to further unblock the contact channels between Hainan and overseas countries.

This is also an important measure taken by the Ministry of Commerce to support the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

On June 3, 2020, an online strategic cooperation agreement ceremony was held and signed between the Joint Conference of Chinese Overseas Chambers of Commerce and the Hainan International Business Council.

The Hainan International Business Council also signed memorandums of cooperation with five Chinese chambers of commerce and overseas business associations in Asia to strengthen cooperation in information sharing, exhibition cooperation, as well as trade and investment promotion.

In the future, the council will will sign memorandums of cooperation with Chinese-funded enterprise associations in another 11 countries, including the United States, Britain, France, Germany, and the UAE.

Moreover, it will also establish partnerships with more Chinese overseas business associations in the future to gradually expand its circle of international partners to contribute to the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

The cooperation between the Hainan International Business Council and overseas Chinese chambers and associations focuses on the three leading industries of tourism, modern services, and high-tech industries, as well as the 18 sub-sections of duty-free consumer goods, cruise ships and yachts, culture and sports, shipping vessels, the aviation industry, the oil and gas chemical industry, financial leasing, as well as offshore trade.
