Over 20 experts from Beijing, Tianjin, and Hainan were invited to a high-end academic forum in Hainan on May 30 to share their views on the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port in the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic impact.
The experts came from the Development and Research Center of the State Council, the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, the China Macroeconomics Research Institute, the Ministry of Commerce, Nankai University, Hainan University, and other institutions.
During the forum, speeches themed around the historical mission of Hainan Free Trade Port in the new era, the regional economy under the COVID-19 pandemic, and suggestions for the Hainan Free Trade Port were made.
Targeting the world's highest level of opening-up, building a new free port opening system with Chinese characteristics and strong international competitiveness, as well as forming a new hot spot in the development of free trade ports under the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic are currently the focus for promoting free trade port construction for Hainan, according to experts and scholars.
