China's island province of Hainan reported no new confirmed cases of COVID-19 or of asymptomatic cases on May 31, according to an announcement from the Hainan Provincial Health Commission made on June 1.
As of May 31, Hainan has reported 169 confirmed cases of the COVID-19, including one imported case. The island now has one hospitalized case, who was isolated on May 29 and was then transferred to a hospital for quarantine on May 30. The province has reported six deaths and 162 discharges cases in total by May 31.
Among the confirmed cases, 39 are from Haikou, 55 from Sanya, 15 from Danzhou, three from Wenchang, six from Qionghai, 13 from Wanning, three from Dongfang, nine from Chengmai, six from Lin'gao, seven from Changjiang, four from Lingshui, three from Ding'an, three from Baoting, two from Ledong, and one from Qiongzhong.
To date, 6,791 people who have been in close contact with those infected have been traced, of which 6,733 people have been released from medical observation, while 58 people are still under medical observation.
As of May 31, Hainan reported 35 asymptomatic cases, a total of 31 cases were released from quarantine and four cases are still under medical observation, of which three are from Hubei and one is from Zhejiang.
Among the 35 asymptomatic infections, seven were in Haikou, 21 in Sanya, two in Dongfang, one in Lingshui, one in Wanning, one in Qionghai, one in Ledong, and one in Ding'an. A total of 28 cases were from China, while seven cases were from abroad, including five cases from the UK, one from the Netherlands, and one from Spain.
