Hainan launched a variety of cultural events on April 23, covering four parts including a book exhibition, the cultural exhibition of the 70th anniversary of Hainan's liberation, people-benefiting cultural activities, and the "I contribute to construction of Hainan Pilot Free Trade Port" campaign.

Hainan Phoenix Xinhua, the organizer of the event, teamed up with 50 book suppliers to provide 3,500 types of books at bookstores across the island and online book stores for locals with discounts as high as half-price. In addition, it invited presidents of key presses, editors-in-chief, and well-known writers to participate in online cultural activities.

According to reports from Hainan Daily, the island province will hold the 12th Hainan Book Festival and the Second Hainan Island International Book (Tourism) Fair simultaneously in November, providing more opportunities for locals to enjoy cultural fun in addition to the World Book Festival activities, some of which are scheduled to last until the end of this year.

This year's World Book Day event will integrate Hainan's cultural industry inspections and investment promotion into its plans. The upgrading plans of Hainan Xinhua bookstores and the investment promotion plan of Hainan Press Publishing Industry Building will all appear on the book fair roadshow site.

In addition, the event organizer will invite publishing organizations from home and abroad to participate in the inspection and discussion of Hainan's key industrial parks, such as Haikou Jiangdong New District, Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City, and Hainan Resort Software Community, enabling exhibitors to fully understand Hainan in the context of its free trade port policies.
