Hainan upgrades health QR code with new services functions

The Hainan Health QR Code, which has played a key role in the province's anti-novel coroanvirus (COVID-19) epidemic efforts, has now become a service platform with newly added public services covering consumption, medical care, and public transportation.

Early on March 20, it integrated the codes of public transportation and real-name registration. On March 26, the platform teamed with hospitals and enabled residents to make appointments according to their latest health code status. Green code holders can make an online appointment as normal, while yellow code holders need to go to the service window for their appointment after having their temperatures taken and red code holders need to go to a fever clinic for medical treatment.

On March 22, the system teamed with duty-free shops to make shopping more convenient for tourists. In addition, Hainan residents were able to get special coupons through the health QR code system.

On March 27, the health code system added functions to make it compatible with facial recognition terminals, which makes checks at enterprises, communities, schools, and checkpoints much easier and thus conducive to the resumption of school and work across the island.

In the future, the system will gradually expand its functions to cover more fields, as well as promote more frequent use in the fields of credit, consumption, medical treatment, and government services. By promoting the interconnection of public services and business services, it will implement various free trade port policies, as well as strive to provide a strong driving force for Hainan's post-epidemic economic recovery and development.
