The Hainan COVID-19 Epidemic Prevention and Control Headquarters announced on March 16 that all travelers to Hainan arriving from abroad will undergo a centralized quarantine and medical observation at their own expense.
The specific standards and measures will be formulated by Haikou, Sanya, Qionghai, and Dongfang , where visitors may arrive from overseas areas.
It also clarified that confirmed cases of the COVID-19 who participate in the basic medical insurance system will receive subsidies after paying medical expenses incurred in accordance with the regulations of basic medical insurance, critical illness insurance, and medical assistance. Those who are not included in the basic medical insurance system will pay their medical bills themselves. For those who are covered by commercial health insurance, their bills will be paid by the commercial insurance company according to the contract.
For those foreigners who have come to Hainan but haven't participated in the basic medical insurance system, medical assistance will be provided in accordance with laws and regulations if they have real difficulties and meet certain requirements.
