Sanya, the host city for the sixth Asian Beach Games, announced on March 10 that it will set up another competition zone in Yazhou district for the inter-continental event.

The newly added competition zone, which will be mainly for powered paragliding competitions, will be the fourth zone in the host city, with the others being in Jiyang, Tianya, and Haitang.

At the end of 2019, the sports department of the Sixth Asian Beach Games Organizing Committee organized directors for the individual events to conduct various field investigations regarding the venue for paragliding. The consensus was finally reached to host paragliding events at Yazhou Bay instead of the previously planned Haitang Bay.

The adjustment of the competition venue meets the needs of the competition, as well as the integration and development of Sanya's "sports plus tourism" industries. The additional competition zone will enhance the influence of the inter-continental event, as well as boost the construction of the Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City.

As of now, a special committee has been set up in Yazhou to promote the preparation and organization work.
