The Sanya stop of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race will be delayed in view of the novel coronavirus outbreak, according to the race's organizing committee.

The race was originally scheduled to be held from Feb 10 to 15, but will be rescheduled in accordance with the epidemic situation in China.

The fleet, currently racing from Australia, will now head to Subic Bay in the Philippines, which was previously planned as the second of the three ports in Leg 5, with Sanya in Hainan province being the first and Zhuhai in Guangdong province the third.

The estimated arrival time into Subic Bay is Feb 13-16. There will now be an extended stopover in this port of a minimum of nine days.

The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, held every two years, is the largest amateur yacht race in the world.
