The Sanya municipal culture and tourism bureau, together with the Sanya Tourism Federation and Sanya Travel Agency Association, distributed masks to foreigners from more than 30 countries, including Russia, the United Kingdom, Canada, the US, Germany, Ukraine and the Philippines.
After the novel coronavirus outbreak, the bureau has been working with international travel agencies to persuade foreign tourists to end their trips ahead of time. At present, all were confirmed to have left Sanya no later than Feb 4.
In the meantime, the municipal government is distributing masks in the lobbies of hotels and gathering areas of foreign tourists, and requires them to wear the masks correctly during travel.
In addition, the bureau also authorized overseas new media platform Hello Sanya to distribute masks to foreigners who live in Sanya for free.
A Russian tourist who received the mask said he thanked the Sanya municipal government for the care, and it made Russian tourists feel at home in Sanya. He also hoped patients with novel coronavirus could overcome the virus and recover as soon as possible.
Russian tourist Natasha said everyone was aware of the seriousness of the novel coronavirus, and will actively cooperate with the Sanya municipal government in prevention and control.
