More than 5,000 runners from 15 countries and regions battled it out at the 2019 Haikou International Beach Marathon, which was held on Nov 30 in the Hainan province capital city.

The event, which consisted of a 10.5-kilometer half-marathon and a 2.5-kilometer mini marathon, displayed new breakthroughs in a variety of aspects, such as competition theme, track design, competition organization, security and services, as well as the integration of public welfare efforts with sports.

The BlueRibbon Ocean Conservation Association, a Sanya-based non-profit NGO dedicated to ocean education and raising awareness, marine debris clean-up, as well as coastal ecosystem conservation, was invited to the event to promote environmental protection to the public.
