The 2nd Hainan Island International Film Festival (HIFF), scheduled to open in Sanya from Dec 1 to 8, will show classic films on the big outdoor screen set up by the city's beautiful beach for film lovers to enjoy.

HIIFF recently announced its special presentations of classic movies, making full use of Hainan's tropical island advantages, as well as seeking to build China's only free-of-charge outdoor film exhibition.

The "Classics Revisited" exhibition will feature masterpieces all over the world that were created over a century since the first movie was made. It will bring audiences to the golden age of classic silent films, as well as song and dance films. The highlighted exhibits will include Charlie Chaplin's classic 1925 filmThe Gold Rush, with world renowned conductor Timothy Brock conducting the film's soundtrack.

Top Hat, a 1935 musical starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, will also be screened, while Shall We Dance, a 1937 musical comedy film directed by Mark Sandrich, is among the list of classics that film lovers won't want to miss.
