Iranian film director and screenwriter Asghar Farhadi, who has won two Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film, will attend the Second Hainan Island International Film Festival (HIIFF) opening next weekend.
Farhadi's attendance marks another heavyweight guest that is set to take part in the event, following the participation of Japanese film director Kiyoshi Kurosawa and Hong Kong film director and producer Stanley Kwan. His films A Separation and The Salesman earned him the Academy Awards in 2012 and 2017 respectively.
While at the HIIFF in Sanya, Farhadi will take part in a "film master carnival" event to share his experience as a director and discuss filmmaking with film lovers and filmmakers.
