The 2019 International Ocean Science Biennial Conference, an event which global academics, experts, and enterprise representatives gather and discuss marine technological innovations and applications, got underway in Sanya on Oct 26.
The three-day event was held at Mangrove Tree Resort World Sanya Bay and saw attendees from major countries in the world in terms of marine technology and marine economy like the US, the UK, Brazil, Portugal, Australia, South Korea, Russia, and France.
Together with their Chinese counterparts, the overseas guests discussed the latest developments in world marine technology innovation, the application of marine new technologies in the marine oil and gas industry, ocean monitoring, offshore wind and wave energy development, the protection of coastal and natural resources, as well as the protection and restoration of coral reefs.
Main events at the conference included the opening ceremony for iOceans China 2019, the 2019 International Ocean Science Biennial Conference, the Ocean Science and Technology Awards Ceremony, as well as forums in marine technology and submarine science.
At the Ocean Science and Technology Awards Ceremony held on Oct 26, 10 projects were granted first prizes and 28 second prizes. The awards, selected by the Chinese Society for Oceanography, the Pacific Society of China, and the Chinese Society for Oceanology and Limnology, gave a vivid representation of the R&D and application of marine technologies.
