Haikou, capital city of South China's Hainan province, is seeking to help people in poverty-stricken villages by promoting the distinctive specialties of these places.

According to Haikou's tourism, culture, radio, TV and sports bureau, four of the city's poverty-stricken villages are currently involved in this initiative: Changfu village in Meilan district, Hequn village in Qiongshan district, Renli village in Longhua district, and Yuxia village in Xiuying district.

A total of eight local products have been designated as Haikou specialties for tourists, which include fruits, tea, honey, rice, and duck eggs.

The products are available at tourist attractions, special sales areas for poverty alleviation products in Haikou, and local e-commerce platforms.
