After the outbreak of the war, important coastal ports basically fell, and the Yunnan-Burma Road became a significant international transportation channel for China to obtain industrial raw materials and goods from the outside world. After the opening of the road, skilled drivers and mechanics were in short supply and over 3,000 young overseas Chinese from Southeast Asian countries volunteered to transport supplies to support their home country's war efforts.
The exhibition, held at Hainan Library, displays over 300 photos and more than 10 sculptures by famous Chinese sculptor Chen Xuebo, offering visitors a chance to learn about the heroes' arduous tasks and heroic deeds 80 years ago.
It will run until Oct 11.
