Over 1,300 enterprises from home and abroad gathered in Haikou, capital city of Hainan, on Sept 2 for the 2019 Hainan Free Trade Zone (Port) Industrial Park Investment and Cooperation Conference.

The conference was the largest investment and match-making event hosted in Hainan since the island province began construction of its pilot free trade zone (port). It consisted of promotion seminars on major project investment, mergers and acquisitions, comprehensive promotions, promotions of industrial parks, as well as on-site inspections.

During the conference, Hainan spotlighted the three major areas of tourism, the modern service industry, and the high-tech industry, focusing on promoting the development orientation, preferential policies, and investment opportunities of 20 industrial parks, such as Haikou Jiangdong New District and Yangpu Economic Development Zone.

Hainan built the pilot free trade zone mainly for the construction of the Hainan Pilot Free Trade Port, said Shen Xiaoming, governor of Hainan province, while addressing the audience at the conference.

Currently, the work of the Hainan Pilot Free Trade Zone is progressing in an orderly manner. The policy systems of the Hainan Pilot Free Trade Port are being researched and Hainan will welcome enterprises and projects with excellent government services, Shen said.

The conference targeted mainly private companies. While promoting the construction of the Hainan Pilot Free Trade Zone (Port), the province of Hainan has created more opportunities for private enterprises, and hopes that enterprises can effectively use the advantages of technology, capital, projects, and talents to seize development opportunities, according to Huang Rong, vice chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce.
