A Burmese media delegation embarked on a one-week tour to Hainan on Aug 25 to better understand China's accomplishment in reform and opening up, as well as to spread Hainan stories in Myanmar.

The group's itinerary includes visits to the Hainan cities of Haikou, Qionghai, Sanya, and Baoting Li and Miao autonomous county where the members learn about Hainan's innovative practices and development experiences in tourism development, urban construction, the medical and healthcare industry, poverty alleviation, as well as the construction of its pilot free trade zone.

Hainan Daily has been a window to the province's development. The major historical development events in Hainan have been recorded by the newspaper, according to a member of the delegation who is a writer.

"During my visit to Hainan this time, I hope to know more about the education and culture," she said. While visiting, she kept taking pictures, as well as writing down meaningful events and people she had learned about in her notebook, hoping to use them as material for future works.

Soe Naing, head of the Myanmar media delegation, said the Myanmar city of Mandalay is similar to Hainan as both attach great importance to tourism for economic development.

As an editor of Mandalay Daily, Soe Naing hopes that news about Hainan can be reported on in his newspaper and that relevant news about Mandalay can be reported in Hainan Daily as well. He also expressed his hope that the two media outlets can seek more exchanges and cooperation in the future.

Hainan Daily has much experience worth learning for Mandalay Daily and so does Hainan's tourism industry development for Mandalay, he said. He expected that the two sides will help Myanmar and Hainan to carry out exchanges and cooperation in various fields through media cooperation in the future.
